CARTIERE CARRARA JOINS THE UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT: A COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
Cartiere Carrara is pleased to announce its membership in the United Nations Global Compact network, a significant step that underscores its commitment to social and environmental responsibility. By joining this initiative, the company aligns itself with the Ten Universal Principles, which focus on human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. Cartiere Carrara will report annually on its progress, ensuring transparency and a commitment to continuous improvement.
“This membership marks a decisive step in our journey towards greater responsibility. It builds on the initiatives outlined in our 2023 Sustainability Report, where we initiated a process of accountability centred on the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic. We are determined to continue innovating and fostering sustainable growth in an ever-evolving sector,” said Mario Carrara, Vice President of Cartiere Carrara.
The principles of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal are already deeply embedded in Cartiere Carrara’s vision and daily operations. The company is committed to promoting a circular economy and protecting the environment, with particular attention to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which serve as a strategic framework for its future decisions. This dedication translates into concrete and measurable actions, as outlined in the sustainability manifesto “Caring for what’s next”, published last year. The manifesto has since evolved into a sustainability plan, with the ambition of achieving significant results by 2030.
“For us, joining the UN Global Compact,” added Mario Carrara, “is not just a statement of intent but a tangible commitment. Every action we take today is aimed at building a fairer, more responsible, and more prosperous future for everyone.”
“This is just the beginning of a journey of continuous improvement. Sustainability and inclusivity are the core principles upon which we want to build our future,” concluded Carrara.
Cartiere Carrara enthusiastically embraces the opportunity to collaborate with other organisations working towards the same sustainable development goals, recognising that only by joining forces can we make a real difference for society and the environment.
